24th April Meeting- What are you GOOD and BAD at?
Tuesday's session was pretty much like a mini English lesson on grammer and sentence structure. Well, it wasn't all boring...we got to know how each others' good and bad areas. All of us were supposed to come up with sentences beginning with, "I am good at..., I am bad at....etc."
One random quote that I can remember is "I am a good cook, better than my housemates" That comment drew lots of throat clearing *AHEMS!!!Well, that was from Lui Xing.HAHA.
Good news! Our dear friend Thao brought along 2 new friends, and we were glad to meet them. Both of them have got the same name, (so coincidental right..)and both are from Myanmar. We learnt through the lesson that Dori is very Singaporean; she speaks with "la" at the back of her sentences....hahah..hmm, she's well integrated in singlish already! May on the other hand has been learning English since she was 6! No wonder she speaks pretty fluently!
PS: There's no IFG meeting next tuesday (labour day:P) So, we'll see each other the week after labour day then..don't miss us too much

Making sentences with "I am good at..."A pretty fun way of getting to know each other better..haha. (LR: Lui Xing, Thao, Dori)

funny fox
hopefully, after this, all those who are taking their exams would feel a lot more less stressed
all jokes taken from www.lotsofjokes.com
something to laugh about
Eye Test
A short Polish immigrant went to the DVLA to apply for a driver's license.
First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test.
The optician showed him a card with the letters. On the bottom row were these letters:
'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.'
'Can you read this?' the optician asked.
'Read it?' the Polish guy replied - 'I know the fellow.'

Wanted: Man to take care of cow that does not smoke or drink.
Wanted: Mother's helper - peasant working conditions.

17th April meeting- EXAM secrets revealed!!
hi everyone! We had Evelyn back as our faciliator for the recent meeting. oh!We had Zhou qing with us on tuesday(she's Connie and Liu Xing's housemate).
All of us shared our individual exam tips...haha. We now realised everyone was very humble cos all said they were not A scorers(*Ahem*as if ...we had a few in our midst), but all were willing to share their own secrets:)
In brief, all of us felt that we needed a good working environment, even before getting started with our revision; somewhere not too cold would do fine-i believe our school's library wouldn't be the best if you're planning to study long hours..haha. Secondly, like what Zhou qing mentioned, good results start from the beginning; she shared with us that listening to lectures do help when you are revising for exams. *phew...our hats out to her..anyway, how many of us are caught dozing off or daydreaming in class? Fiona commented that she records down revision lectures, and hears them again before entering the exam hall. Yik Yee said that he would write down notes for himself, then he would use his superb memory to memorise the whole thing. So, during exams, whatever he memorises is according to the pages of his notes. He would then "turn to the right page" in his mind and answer accordingly to the question. ..hmm..pretty interesting right?
Towards the end, we discussed about 2 different learning styles. Some of us are very visual, while some others are pretty much more auditory. Those who are visual benefit from studying alone in a quiet room, while those who more audio learn more from discussing with friends. Check this website out to see what style you incline to: http://www.metamath.com/lsweb/fourls.htm#av . After getting to know yourself better, maybe you can adopt the strategies listed.
Too bad, not every secret can be revealed here. You have to come to find out more for yourself!
See ya around...

$25 mate...! Have you ever bought qualities for your future partner? hehe..we did that yesterday during our second meeting of the month. All of us had to purchase certain characteristics; for e.g. good looking $4, religious $6, sincere and serious $3...etc. We had great fun hearing from each other why we want those qualities we chose for our spouse. Our faciliator for the day, Yik Yee (a graduating student of RMIT) gave us an eye opener in the male gender point of view. While we girls heard his opinions, we gave him some of ours. Too bad, he was outnumbered!! An interesting thought that came out: girls like guys who are more romantic...so guys...try not to be too square in the relationship!:P
We had 2 students with us yesterday, they were Tao and Liu Xing. Tao is from Vietnam, and Liu Xing is from China. Hopefully we would have more international students joining us!! If you're reading this, and are an international student from SIM, do drop us a mail and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
This is Liu Xing, she's from China. Currently, she's doing her DMS programme, and is going into UOL soon! If you look closely, she looks like Connie's twin:)

Our first meeting in the month of April 2007. From left: Yunita, Fiona, Connie, Yik Yee, and Evelyn. We were playing a game of words. Our facilitator, Evelyn will say a word, for e.g. sports, and all of us would have to write down the first thing that comes to our mind...
After this activity, we realised Connie was very "common"!!!haha...Majority of her answers were the same as the others, so she got to eat most of the Hello panda biscuits(as a reward for getting the most similar answers with others)!!!
